GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS


Students at El Camino High School are held to the same state standards and graduation requirements as they are at the comprehensive high school (220 credits, completion of Algebra I, and a 2.0 grade point average).

*Students must fulfill 30 credits in Mathematics. Ten (10) of those 30 credits need to be Common Core 1A & Common Core 1B or the equivalent in order to fulfill the Algebra requirement. Twenty (20) credits of Mathematics electives are also required.

*Students must fulfill 30 credits in Science. Ten (10) of those 30 need to be Living Earth.

*In addition to 220 credits, students are also required to have a cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.0 to meet graduation requirements.  Students who do not meet this requirement must retake classes in which they earned a grade of “D” or “F” in order to raise the grade point average to a 2.0.
 

 

CREDIT ALTERNATIVES


Provisions are made for students to gain extra credit outside the classroom.  These extra credit programs must be worked out in advance with the student’s counselor and teachers.

  • ADULT SCHOOL CLASSES: Academic & elective classes.
  • CLASSROOM ALTERNATIVE CREDIT OPTIONS:  Credit may be earned by completing projects at home as approved by the teachers.
  • INDEPENDENT STUDY:  A program where credits can be earned in all subject areas with attendance on a one-day-a-week basis.  This is limited to students having special needs.
  • REGIONAL OCCUPATIONAL PROGRAM (ROP): Vocational training classes offered throughout the district.  One credit is earned for each 15 hours of attendance in class.
  • VEYSEY: Credit by attending community college.
  • WORK STUDY PROGRAM: Students may be in this program if they are enrolled in work experience. Students earn 1 credit for every Fifteen (15) hours worked for a maximum of 20 elective credits.
