Bellflower Temple Corps helps struggling families and individuals avoid falling into the cycle of crisis by supplementing their income with utility, rent, and other vital payments.

  • Primary services: Help pay for housing and utilities.
  • Serving: Anyone in need, of all ages, or in crisis.
  • Days of operation: Monday and Thursday, 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Matching Grant (MG) Program: Through MG, the IILA supports refugees, asylees, and other vulnerable newcomers in becoming stably employed and financially self-sufficient in a brand-new country. 

  • The program provides a monthly rental allowance that helps clients to pay their rent and basic expenses for several months. 
  • Clients receive personalized help and coaching from an Employment Case Manager as they take their first steps into the American workforce.  
    • IILA’s MG Case Managers address a wide variety of needs, including job development and placement, enrollment in English classes, and assistance with transportation. 

Through MG, many IILA clients find stable employment and become financially self-sufficient within 6 months of their arrival in the US. The program empowers clients to build their lives and increase their earning potential immediately, without relying on public benefits. 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Immigrant/Refugee, Asylees (within 90 days of receiving documentation of status)
  • Certified victims of trafficking (within 31 days of HHS certification)
  • Refugees
  • Special Immigrant Visa holders (SIVs)
  • Cuban and Haitian entrants (all within 31 days of arrival).

Family Housing

  • Problem Solving: Interventions to avoid homelessness
  • Crisis Housing: Motel and shelter
  • Permanent Housing: Time-limited subsidies and supportive housing
  • Retention: Post-permanent housing interventions to avoid recidivism
  • Supportive Services: Case management, life-skills training including money and budget management, and employment services
  • Special Programs: Specialized support to domestic violence survivors; Intense Case Management (ICMS) – with referral from the Department of Health Services (DHS); Bringing Families Home (BFH) Program, with referral from the Department of Children and Families Services (DCFS)
  • Linkage to Resources: Legal, childcare, education & vocational training, physical health, LAUSD/McKinney Vento, other community-based services
  • Family Access Center: Day use amenities (pantry, computer lab, laundry, showers)

HYC’s Homeless and Housing Support Services deliver street outreach and coordinated housing and service interventions, including intensive case management, housing navigation, and rental subsidies.

      • We are currently providing free virtual walk-in clinics every Wednesday.  
    • Virtual Workshops: Education about housing rights. 
      • Our workshops are twice a week on Tuesday's, and Thursday's from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
      • Tuesday's workshop will be held in English and Thursday's will be in Spanish.
