Student Support

El Camino High school has partnered with the National College Resources Foundation and  their initiative, The Movement Enrichment Program. They provide our students mentoring, tutoring, and college & career planning on site. Tutoring is provided during 5th and 6th period every day of the week except Wednesday. One on one tutoring and "check-in" is also provided from 1st thru 4th period on an as needed basis. To get on the tutoring list, students can see Mr. Hunter, ECHS Principal.

The Wellness Center aims to promote student wellness by providing a safe and welcoming place for students during snack and lunch. At the Wellness Center, students can come to relax, work on homework, hang out with friends, play games or talk to a wellness specialist and build relationships in a safe place.

Some of the services provided by the Wellness Center are individual counseling, group counseling, parent engagement and case management (referrals to school and community resources).

The Wellness Center is located in room 73. To speak with Ms. Rachel Garcia, Wellness Specialist, call 562) 210-3634. For further information  please visit NLMUSD Mental Health & Wellness Site.

Another valuable partnership that serves to support our students is with Goals for Life. Every Wednesday, a former professional football player presents our youth the opportunity to learn the skills and strategies that are necessary for success in life. Through mentoring from the GFL athlete, students learn that  integrity, preparation, high self-esteem, perseverance and the confidence to succeed are a winning combination in all fields and endeavors (Goals for Life, n.d.).  You can learn more by visiting the Goals For Life website .
