Academic Counseling

ACADEMIC COUNSELING

Each student will have the opportunity to participate in individual academic counseling at their request, the request of the counseling staff, or on the recommendation of the faculty or administration.

Students may reach out to Ms. Mejia directly and/or their teachers and ask to be called out of class to meet with their academic counselor.

The purpose of academic counseling is to:

  1. Plan for graduation or return to their home school,
  2. Assist the student in evaluating credits previously earned and in planning a program of study,
  3. Provide the student with personal and educational guidance,
  4. Assist the student to focus on the future: post graduate education or world of work.

Parent/guardian involvement in the school process is important to student success. Parent(s)/guardian(s) are encouraged to contact the school to check on their student's progress biweekly.

It is crucial for parent(s)/guardian(s) to reach out to Ms. Mejia as progress grades are not posted to PowerSchool because of the nature of our continuation school. El Camino offers partial credit earning and progress sent home is only based on attendance and citizenship.
